Move the cloud around the map of iceland to cast a magical shadow and reveal the hidden characters and creatures from various folk tales, ghost stories and traditional beliefs.
This is an interactive map of Icelandic folklore and mythology that I made for a map project for my course. The elves and trolls that exist in Icelandic folk tales (that supposedly many still believe in today) are known as Huldufolk, or hidden people. Here's an oppurtunity to peek into their world!
Make sure you find all the little goodies, especially the animated bits. Hint: Stake out the cave below the ghost bull and you might catch a glimpse of a flying spirit.
Nearly everything that's here is based on actual tales and placed either somewhere appropriate or where the story is meant to have taken place.

this is fantastic! I love the scripting you've done here! I am working on a project with a map and I've been searching for months to find a creative way to display my hidden parts in my map too, would you mind if I used a similar concept on my own project and if so could you point me to the type of scripting you used? a tutorial or something on how you were able to do this? I'm assuming it's some sort of layer mask that is scripted for the mouse. Any help would be great!
